Alberta Requirements

To become a Real Estate Associate in Alberta you must:

1. 1. Be at least 18 years of age.
2. 2. Submit proof of an Alberta high school diploma or equivalent.
3. 3. Complete the three phases of the Real Estate Associates' Program.
   1. Phase 1: Introduction to a Career in Real Estate
      This course is a self-study course with either a classroom or an online component.
   2. Phase 2: Fundamentals of Real Estate
      This course is offered both in the classroom or online.
   3. Phase 3: Real Estate Areas of Practice
      This Course is offered both in the classroom or online.
4. 4. Complete the Understanding Designated Agency and Transaction Brokerage course.
5. 5. Secure a job with an Alberta real estate brokerage.
6. 6. Submit an application for licensing to the Real Estate Council of Alberta. This step includes a criminal record check.

3. 3. Secure a job with a Saskatchewan real estate brokerage.
4. 4. Submit an application for licensing to the Association of Saskatchewan REALTORS® Real Estate Board. This step includes a criminal record check.
